Edward J. Cochrane, 90 of Attleboro, MA., passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Mount Saint Rita Health Center in Cumberland, RI. He was the beloved husband of the late Marlene L. (Dolan) Cochrane and father of the late Laurie J. Hutchinson and Maureen L. Tomasso.
Born on July 3, 1934, in Boston, MA., he was the son of the late Gerard and Kathleen (Murphy) Cochrane.
Edward devoted a significant portion of his life to his career as a Facility Steam Engineer before he retired. His professional journey was marked by dedication and expertise in his field. In addition to his engineering career, Edward was a proud Army Veteran who served his country during the Korean War, showcasing his commitment to service and sacrifice. Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, he was also an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for his favorite teams, which included the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and the New York Giants.
He is survived by his loving children, Donna A. Carpenter and her husband, Bruce Carpenter of Attleboro, MA ; Eileen M. McCormack and her husband, Jay McCormack of South Carolina; Kathleen A. Johnson and her husband, Robert Johnson, of North Attleboro, MA; Edward J. Cochrane Jr. and his wife, Lisa Cochrane, of East Sandwich, MA; Ryan P. Cochrane and his wife, Cristy Cochrane, of Attleboro, MA., and a devoted brother, Charles K. Cochrane of Plainville, MA. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Tanya Carpenter, Juliana Carpenter, Michael McCormack, Shane McCormack, Meghan McCormack, Ceili Cochrane, Delaney Cochrane, Nolan Cochrane, Broden Cochrane, Declan Cochrane, Riley Cochrane, Kamryn Cochrane, Kenzie Cochrane, Sheryl Hutchinson, Kevin Tomasso and Jaclyn Rosa; his step grandchildren: Robert Johnson, Kellie Johnson and Kaylin Goodhue; dear great-grandchildren, Jayden Hutchinson and August Rosa, and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Edward’s funeral will be for family only and will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 10:30 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Burial with military honors will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, alongside his beloved wife Marlene.
