Edward Everett Case, 85, of Rehoboth, Massachusetts, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro following a short illness. He was predeceased by his loving wife: Janet (Bliss) Case. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on March 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Alton and Edith Case. He married the former Janet Bliss on September 29, 1951 and they lived in Attleboro before settling in Rehoboth on the Bliss ancestral farm, the Daniel Bliss House, circa 1648. They built their home, "River Meadow", on the family land on Homestead Avenue in Rehoboth in 1968 and lived there throughout their married life. It was at "River Meadow" that Mr. Case enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching birds and wildlife. Mr. Case was a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge in Rehoboth. Following his graduation from Pawtucket East High School in 1944, he was employed in various jobs delivering ice and oil in the Rehoboth and Attleboro area. He served as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Seekonk. Mr. Case was employed by "The House in the Pines" preparatory school in Norton until 1966 prior to working until his retirement at Texas Instruments in Attleboro where he was employed in the shipping department. Outgoing and friendly, he was known for his card expertise and particularly loved to play cribbage with all takers. He will be remembered as a New England original, for his keen mind and generous heart. He was loved by his cherished wife, family and many friends and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his sisters-in-law: Barbara Coleman in Arizona and Helen Bliss in Florida and well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters: Edith, Shirley, Olive and Avis. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on the left) Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A private graveside service will be held at the Rehoboth Village Cemetery, Rehoboth.
