Edna Ida (Gagnon) Brown, 90, of Mirimichi Street, Plainville, died on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Bernard Elwin Brown to whom she was married on July 2, 1949 and who died on May 4, 2005. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on November 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Suprenant) Gagnon. Raised and educated in the City of Attleboro, Mrs. Brown was a 1938 graduate of Attleboro High School. She resided in Attleboro on Pine, Mulberry and Emory Streets prior to moving to Plainville where she had resided for the past 47 years. In early years, Mrs. Brown was employed by the former Metals and Control Company and following her marriage and the birth of her children she was a dedicated and devoted homemaker to her family. Mrs. Brown was an avid square dancer and she and her late husband were the owners and operators of B & E Hall, a square dance pavilion, on their property in Plainville where countless area square dancers enjoyed many times. She was a founding member of the Totem Twirlers Square Dance Club in Cumberland, Rhode Island. A woman with exceptional musical abilities, she was an ardent singer and was a member of the former Octave Chorus in Attleboro and performed operettas while attending Attleboro High School. Her family recalls with love and gratitude her devotion to her cherished family. She leaves four children: Alan A. Brown and his wife, Bernadette C. Brown of West Falmouth; Karen Manley of Painesville, Ohio; Beth Aucoin and her husband, Stephen F. Aucoin, of North Attleboro and Tammy M. Iaconis of Azusa, California; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. She was the sister of the late Norman A. Gagnon. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 10:00 -11:00 AM with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville. Childrens room available during visitation and the funeral service. Following funeral services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship, refreshments and remembrance at a location to be announced.
