Edgar D. Franks Iii
March 17, 1966 — May 28, 2020
Edgar "Ed" Dewey Franks III, 54, of South Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at HopeHealth Hospice Hulitar Center in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband, best friend, and soulmate of Wendy D. (Tardie) Franks, whom he married on May 5, 2001, and who was by his side.
Born on March 17, 1966 in Uniontown, PA, he was the son of Edgard Dewey Franks II of Roaring Spring, PA, and the late Frieda (Silver) Rodeheaver. He was the stepson of the late Caroline (Alexander) Franks.
Ed proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Navy. He then worked for thirteen years in Loss Prevention for Ann and Hope in Cumberland, RI.
A resident of South Attleboro for the past fourteen years, he previously lived in Woonsocket, RI.
An avid sports fan, especially of the New England Patriots, Ed enjoyed NASCAR and bowling. He was a warm and caring man with a genuinely kind spirit. Ed loved animals of most every kind and held a special place in his heart for "Bully" his cat and for "Baby", his late cat. More than anything, he cherished spending every moment of his life with Wendy. They were the true center of each other's worlds and she will forever miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife and his father, he leaves his siblings: Debbie A. Holsinger of PA; Terri L. Sirko of PA; Carrie Ann Shirk of PA; James M. Franks of TX; and Kansas B. Franks of VA. Ed leaves his wife's family, who were very special to him, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Visitation has respectfully been omitted.
A Graveside Service with full Military Honors will be held in St. Theresa's Cemetery, Burrillville, RI at a later date to be announced.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ed to an animal shelter of one's choice or to benefit animals in some way.
