Earl J. Foss, 92, of North Attleboro, MA passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Attleboro Healthcare in Attleboro, MA where he had been as short-term resident.
Born in Attleboro, MA on December 10, 1929, he was a son of the late Albanus D. Foss, Sr., and the late Ida May (MacDonald) Foss. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he resided until moving to North Attleboro in 1985.
He volunteered to serve with the United States Army in Korea from his enlistment on September 6, 1930, until his honorable discharge on January 4, 1952. He was the proud recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Korean Service Ribbon with two bronze stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge. He later proudly served with the Massachusetts National Guard where he was a charter member of the honor guard.
A silversmith by trade, Mr. Foss worked for the former Saart Brothers in Attleboro for 8 years and was a self-employed jewelry tradesman. From 1962 - 1971, he was employed as a patrolman for the City of Attleboro Police Department.
His favorite time of the year was the Christmas season when he enjoyed decorating his home for the festive holidays.
He leaves his two devoted sons: Robert E. Foss and Lawrence J. Foss both of Attleboro, MA; a sister: Marjorie Allard of Attleboro, MA and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Albanus D. Foss, Jr., Russell E. Foss, Francis E. Foss, Kenneth E. Foss, Eugene N. Foss, and Mildred Kingsley. He was the former husband of the late Marilyn (Gunn) Foss.
Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
Private funeral services with veteran's honors will be held followed by private burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, MA with military honors.
