Douglas "Doug" Ellison Balmer Jr.

Douglas "Doug" Ellison Balmer, Jr., 78, of Plainville, MA passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA.  He was the husband of Elaine C. (Rodriques) Balmer to whom he was married on June 14, 1968.
Born in Pittsfield, MA on April 14, 1943, he was a son of the late Douglas E. Balmer, Sr. and the late Eleanor (Breen) Balmer.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Balmer was a self-employed electrician until his retirement.
He resided in Plainville, MA for the past 15 years having moved to the community from Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Mr. Balmer attended the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark's in the Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
He will be remembered as a "simple man" who enjoyed time spent with his 11-year-old Shih Tzu, "Mojo", canvas oil painting in his "shed studio" and enjoyed working in his yard.
In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves three generations of nieces and nephews including his special niece Elena Bjurman-Klaiber, nephews Sal Traverse and Nicholas Sorel who reside in Rhode Island, and Ray Lewis of Dalton, MA. He is predeceased by two sisters and a brother.
At his request, all services will be conducted privately.
