Dorothy E. (Swift) Snell, 89, of North Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Hebert R. Snell who died in 2009 and the widow of the late Robert M. Swift who died in 1959. Born in Pawtucket, RI on April 22, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Anne (Macomber) Bouffard. Ms. Snell was a graduate of Tolman High School in Pawtucket, RI, Class of 1942. Dorothy worked as a stenographer for the FBI in both Washington, DC and New York, NY from 1944 to 1946. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 13 years as an Executive Secretary at Handy and Harman in Attleboro. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in North Attleboro. Dorothy was known for her love of traveling, whether it be just camping, on a cruise ship or European trips. She also enjoyed dancing, but most important was family. Ms. Snell leaves three children: Serena E. Hastings of North Attleboro; Valerie J. Swift of Attleboro; Christopher R. Swift of North Attleboro ; two brothers: Fredrick Bouffard of North Smithfield, RI; Albert Bouffard of Pawtucket, RI; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by four siblings: Anita Hayden, Nelson Bouffard, and twins Joseph and Robert Bouffard. Visiting Hours will be private. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, East Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ms. Snell's name to a charity of one's choice.
