Dorothy Helen (Conley) Gard of Canterbury Woods, Garfield Avenue, Attleboro; formerly of Maple Street, Attleboro died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a period of declining health. She was the wife of Freeman H. Gard to whom she was married on November 27, 1948. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late George Conley, Sr. and Doris (Gaston) Conley. She was a 1945 graduate of Attleboro High School and resided in Attleboro her entire life. In earlier years, Mrs. Gard was employed as a telephone operator for Swank, Inc. and also at Brolin's Variety Store. She devoted herself to her family as a dedicated homemaker. She had attended Second Congregational Church, Attleboro. Her favorite pastimes included watching movies and television, in particularly court dramas, talking on the phone, reading books, enjoying scratch tickets, Saturday trips to Dunkin Donuts. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she leaves five children: Carol J. Mayer of Plainville; Nancy J. Avery of Bellingham; Linda S. Gibeault of Attleboro; David F. Gard of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Thomas S. Gard of Morgantown, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several extended family members. She was the sister of the late George Conley, Jr. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral service immediately following visitation on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private in North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service.
