Doris Marie (Carey) Mahon, 95, of North Attleboro, MA; a former resident of the City of Attleboro for many years, entered into peaceful, eternal rest surrounded by family on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro, MA where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was the beloved and cherished wife of the late Joseph Francis Mahon to whom she was married on May 12, 1951, and entered into rest in 2005.
Born in Malden, MA on October 30, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph V. Carey and the late Viola M. (Fyler) Carey. She was raised and educated in her native community of Malden, where she was a 1946 graduate of Malden High School. She moved to the City of Attleboro in 1951.
As a mother of nine, her maternal instinct made her the perfect, caring professional who cared for countless children in her home over many years.
A woman of strong religious convictions, she was a dedicated and loyal parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Atlteboro, MA where she celebrated her faith for decades and was a member of the church choir and Women of the Spirit.
As a lover of music, she was a member of the Harmonettes, a women's barbershop chorus.
Doris loved to give back to her community and was a volunteer at the drop-in center at the Rev. Larson Senior Center in Attleboro and was a volunteer at the LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, MA.
In her leisure, she enjoyed creating lifelong memories with her large family to cherish for a lifetime, knitting and solving word search puzzles.
She leaves her beloved children: John Mahon of Framingham, MA; Mary-Eileen Tracey of Warwick, RI; Theresa M. Robbins of Attleboro, MA; Elizabeth A. Baker and her husband, Thomas Baker, of North Attleboro, MA; Carol M. Collins of Warwick, RI; Annette L. Roskowski of Attleboro, MA; Janet M. Mahon of Seekonk, MA; Roberta J. Roy of North Attleboro, MA and the late Noreen M. Greenwood, wife of Joseph Greenwood, of Westminster, MA; 9 grandsons; 9 granddaughters; many great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Doris was predeceased by all of her siblings: Agnes M. Webber, Patricia A. Carey, Joseph R. Carey, Claire L. Johnson , Francis Carey and Robert A. Carey.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
The funeral cortege will begin on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 9:15 am from the Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life and faith at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA.
Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro, MA where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
