Doris Mae Legg

Doris Mae (Goyette) Legg, 89, a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, MA passed away on May 16, 2022, three days shy of her 90th birthday.  She was the loving wife of the late Charles Frederick Legg, Jr. to whom she was married on May 23, 1953, and who died on August 29, 2019.
Born in Mansfield, MA on May 19, 1932, she was one of twelve children born to the late Ovila Goyette and the late Emma R. (Arns) Goyette.  For the past 61 years she made her home on Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro.
Doris' faith was of the utmost importance.  While her children were growing up, she was an active parent at St. Mary's School.  She was a charter member of the now Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark whereas a Eucharistic Minister she brought communion to the sick and homebound, was a member and past president of the church's St. Vincent de Paul Society, a tireless worker for the annual church fairs and was the caretaker of the church gardens.
She loved working in her gardens and baking for the family and events.  She is well known for her apple squares and zucchini relish.  She enjoyed travelling to Washington and Alaska to visit family.
For many years she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader in North Attleboro and was a counselor at Camp Shady Pines and had a huge impact on the lives of many young women in the community.
Doris loved her town of North Attleboro and worked for many years at the voting polls as a checker and later as a warden for a total of 50 years of dedicated service.
She was employed at Donly Manufacturing from 1972 - 1982 and at Raschel's Children's Clothing Store from 1983 - 1994.
The family wishes to thank those who helped make the last months of Doris' life comfortable including Dr. Steven Bensson, HopeHealth Community VNA and the Compassionate Care Hospice of Taunton.
She leaves her loving daughters and their significant others: Roberta "Bobbi" Legg and Thomas Coyne of Walpole, MA; Laurie Lawes of North Attleboro and Wilfred Lawes of North Attleboro, MA; Cynthia and Thomas Moore of Pawcatuck, Connecticut; Darlene and William Thornton of Juneau, Alaska; and Sandra "Sandy" and David Legg-Forgiel of North Attleboro. She was the proud grandmother of Dereck C. Lawes, Melissa L. (Lawes) Hunter, Kaitlyn M. Moore, Jenna L. (Moore) Rogers, Jeffrey T. Moore, Kathleen M. Thornton, Benjamin D. Legg-Forgiel, Peter C. Legg-Forgiel, and the late Kevin J. Thornton. She was the adoring great-grandmother of Daniel Lawes, Abigail Lawes, Annelia Rogers, Willow Hunter and Charles Rogers.
She leaves behind her surviving siblings: Joseph Goyette, Charlie Goyette and Betty Camire.
Doris also leaves three generations of nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to honor and remember Doris by gathering for a Visitation on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
At her request, there will be no funeral procession from the funeral home prior to Mass.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Attleboro Falls, MA.
An invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Doris to either the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760 or to Lenore's Pantry, 43 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.
