Donna Marie Barney

Donna Marie (Pistolese) Barney, 71, of North Attleboro, formerly of Ashton Road, Attleboro, MA, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.  She was the beloved wife of Nicholas S. Barney, to whom she was wed on August 28, 1965. Born on February 20, 1945, in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Pistolese and the late Frances (Juskiewicz) Pistolese. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1963; the University of Vermont, School of Dental Hygiene, Class of 1965; Fisher College, Class of 1983; and the University Without Walls of Skidmore College. Donna resided in Attleboro and North Attleboro her entire life, having worked as a Dental Hygienist for several dentists in the area before enjoying the privilege of owning and operating The Cheese Shop in Wayland Square in Providence, RI, whose customers she truly valued. A caring and loving woman, Donna had many interests. She enjoyed travel, especially to Germany, Bermuda, and the Caribbean Islands; was a longtime fan of the New England Patriots; and meeting with friends and family, and playing Keno, at Fitzy's Pub in Plainville, MA. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her treasured grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Nicholas, she is survived by her loving daughter: Krista M. Barney of Attleboro, MA; and her grandchildren: Matthew P. Reinsant, Jr., Brianna M. Reinsant, and Megan B. Patch. She was the sister of Marilyn (Pistolese) Hoyle and her husband, Robert Hoyle, of Mansfield, MA; and Sharon (Pistolese) Wheelock and her husband, Gary Wheelock, of Attleboro, MA. Donna leaves several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the historic Colonel Obed Robinson House - 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private. Children's room is available during visitation and funeral service.
