Donald Joseph Ulmer, Jr., 83, of Stoneybrook Lane, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Saturday, May 4, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Sexton) Ulmer to whom he was married on October 12, 1957. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on June 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Donald J. Ulmer, Sr. and Hope (Irving) Ulmer. Raised and educated in Norton, Mr. Ulmer was a graduate of Norton High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University with a degree in business administration and also attended Coyne's Electrical School in Boston He was the founder, owner and operator of the former D. J. Ulmer Electrical Contractor for many years until his retirement. A resident of the City of Attleboro for 15 years having moved to the community from his native Norton. Mr. Ulmer was a member of the "Rebecca Lodge" of the Odd Fellows in North Attleboro and treasured the times spent touring in his recreational vehicle and boating. He was a fan of the Boston Bruins and was enthusiastic in anything electrical. Mr. Ulmer was a member of Murray Unitarian Universalist Church, Attleboro. In addition to his wife, he leaves: a daughter: Lorna L. Ulmer and her significant other, Sheila Earle, of Plainville. He was the brother of the late Robert Ulmer. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. A private graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Burial will follow.
