Donald James Smith, 81, of Mendon Road, South Attleboro, died on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the husband of Evelyn M.(Andrews) Campbell Smith. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on November 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Numa J. and Bertha A. (Paquin) Smith. Mr. Smith was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a toolmaker/foreman at Foster's Inc. in Attleboro for over thirty-nine years prior to his retirement. Mr. Smith was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. He was a member of the Attleboro Moose Lodge in Attleboro and former member of the Benevcolent and Protective Order of Elks - Lodge 1014 also in Attleboro. He also enjoyed camping with his family. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves one son: Robert Smith and his wife Pamela, of North Attleboro; three step-sons: Ronald Campbell and his wife Claire, of Norton; John Campbell and his wife Barbara, of Attleboro; James Campbell and his wife Millicent, of Plainville; one brother: Roger L. Smith of Florida; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Burial with Military Honors will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne.
