Donald "Sugarbear" Gordon Pollock, 67, of Plainville, MA, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 after having suffered a massive stroke on July 2. He was the loving and beloved husband of Maryelayna "Robin" I. (Reybrock) Pollock. Born in Belvidere, IL on November 25, 1947, he was a son of the late Nevin C. Pollock and Margaret (Mundtt) Pollock. Don graduated Belvidere High School, IL, Class of 1965, and attended Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. He honorably served our country from 1966 until 1970 in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Glennon as part of the U.S. North Atlantic fleet, also part of the NATO Standing Force. Following his military service, Don enjoyed a thirty-four year career, part of which as a Calibrator, at The Foxboro Company in Foxboro, MA, and then worked for eight years at Home Depot in Mansfield, MA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three cherished children and their families: Michael G. Pollock and his fiancée, Amanda M. Sacco; Sean Pollock and his wife, Jessica M. (Darcy) Pollock, and their daughter Ruby; and Melinda Pollock-Umana and her husband, Luis E. Umana, and their two children, Ian and Noah. Don was the brother of Joanne Pollock, the late Carol Pollock, Richard Pollock, and Kenneth Pollock. He leaves many nieces, nephews and friends, and his trusted Beagle companion, "Clifford". Don loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandkids; tinkering with his John Deere and Wheel Horse tractors; going to classic car shows; and flying kites at Brenton Point in Newport, RI. He was an outstanding whistler and loved to laugh and joke around. He is, and will always be, greatly missed. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Funeral and burial services will be private. There will be a celebration of Don's life with kite flying in Newport, Rhode Island in the early afternoon of Sunday, September 6, 2015.
