Donald L. Pike

Donald L. Pike, 88, of New Emerald Lane, Wrentham, died on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Serenity Hill Nursing Home in Wrentham. He was the husband of the late Marguerite M. (Pelletier) Pike to whom he was married in 1955 and died in April 2002. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on March 3, 1925, he was the beloved son of the late Grace Lillian Pike. Raised and educated in Norton, Mr. Pike was a 1943 graduate of Norton High School. Mr. Pike was a veteran of the United States Navy from his induction on June 22, 1943 until his honorable discharge on March 11, 1946 having earned the rank of Seaman, First Class. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal. He resided in Norton for more than 50 years prior to moving to Normandy Farms in Foxboro where he resided for 28 years. He then moved to Florida where Mr. Pike was a resident for two years before returning to his native Massachusetts and settling in Wrentham where he has been a resident since December 2008. He was employed as a slither operator in the paper industry having been employed by the predecessors to the Fortifiber Company in Attleboro and continuing with Fortifiber until his retirement in 1987 following 33 years of dedicated service. Mr. Pike was an ardent hunter and fisherman. He leaves a daughter: Jeralyn D. Piantadosi with whom he resided in Wrentham. He was predeceased by all of his siblings. Vistation is respectfully omitted. Funeral services and burial will be private.
