Donald Joseph Morin, Sr.

Donald Joseph Morin, Sr., 69, of Azalea Drive, Plainville, died at his residence on Friday, April 27, 2012 surrounded by his cherished family. He was the husband of Barbara C. (Cummings) Morin to whom he was married on October 8, 1966. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on April 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Rose L. (Walek) Morin. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he resided until moving to Plainville 46 years ago. Mr. Morin succeeded his father as the owner and president of S.M. Engineering Company, Inc., an industrial heat treating firm, in North Attleboro having served from 1980 until the time of his death. The third generation family business is now operated by Mr. Morin's children. An accomplished pilot, Mr. Morin enjoyed commanding the company aircraft and as a hobby enjoyed stunt aerial performances. He was a longtime member of the Independent Sportsmen's Club, Inc. of Foxboro. A professional race car driver, Mr. Morin raced throughout the country and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America. In addition to his wife of over 45 years, Mr. Morin leaves five children: Donald J. Morin of Litchfield, Connecticut; Laura Morin of Litchfield, Connecticut; Michael Holleran of Lincoln, Rhode Island; Donald J. Morin, Jr. of Rehoboth and Jason A. Morin of Foxboro; six grandchildren; a sister: Cynthia Cornell of Berkley and several extended family members and dear friends. Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
