Donald Albert Hudson, 90, of Attleboro, MA died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was the husband of the late Shirley C. (Coulters) Hudson who died in 1995. He was the "bestest" friend of Mary Riley of Middleboro, MA.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 13, 1931, he was a son of the late John Hudson and the late Muriel (Marcin) Hudson. Raised and educated in Rhode Island, Mr. Hudson was a graduate of Central High School.
Mr. Hudson proudly served his country with the United States Army from July 14, 1952, until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1954, having achieved the rank of Private First Class.
He was employed as a master bricklayer as a brief union employee and later for various companies and himself. Mr. Hudson resided in the City of Attleboro for the past 25 years.
He was a former communicant of the former St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in Attleboro and, in more recent years, was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Middleboro, MA.
A lifelong athlete, he was a medal Olympian having competed in the Senior Olympics for many years. He was a frequent visitor to the Attleboro Y.M.C.A. He treasured the times spent helping other people with odd jobs and gardening.
In addition to his "bestest" friend, he leaves his children: David Hudson, Sr. of Cranston, Rhode Island; Donald Hudson, Jr. of La Verne, California and Susan Hudson of Warwick, Rhode Island; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother: Kenneth Hudson of West Warwick, Rhode Island.
He was the father of the late Cheryl Trembley and the late Daniel Williams. He was the brother of the late Marjorie Costa.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend Visitation with Veterans Honors on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside services with military honors on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 12:00 noon at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown, Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Donald may be made to any non-profit veterans organization.
