Obituary

Donald Arthur Collard, 69, of North Smithfield, RI, and Ormond Beach, FL, passed away at home on October 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Tanis, whom he met on a blind date. Together, they celebrated 40 years of marriage in August.

Known affectionately as "DAC," Don is survived by his children, Brittany (Robert) Parkinson, Kelsey (Paul) Amis, and Bradley Collard; and seven grandchildren, Aiden, Jackson, Landon, Loretta, Wren, Sophie, and Cami, who cherished their
Pepere beyond measure. He is also survived by his son, Matthew Collard.

Don was the co-owner of Hareld Glass Co., Inc., where he worked for more than 55 years. A member of the Rhode Island Glass Dealers Association, he took tremendous pride in his company and the employees who helped make it a success.

Don will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and enduring optimism. Always willing to help someone in need, he found joy in doing for others and making someone's day a little brighter. A gentle giant, he loved working in his beautifully manicured yard and, of course, golfing. He was a member of Pawtucket Country Club and enjoyed playing the many courses near his home in Ormond Beach.

In 2000, Don and
Tanis co-founded Camp Celiac, the first gluten-free camp for children with celiac disease. For more than a decade, they welcomed children from around the world, creating a place where campers could enjoy friendship, adventure, and a sense of belonging.

Don treasured time with family and friends. A weekend spent this spring with the "Newport Crew" held special meaning, creating memories his friends will always cherish.

He is also survived by his siblings, Normand (Myra), Richard (Pat), Denise (Scott), Louise (Greg), and Michael (Laura-Lee), along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend Visitation on Monday, November 9, 2026, from 3:30 PM until 6:30 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
