Dominick Bonanno, 79, of North Attleboro, MA., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at home.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on December 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Dominick and Louise M. (Avelon) Bonanno.
Dominick was a man of many passions. He spent countless hours restoring Hot Rods, bowled regularly at North Bowl with his bowling league, and loved attending the horse races at Plainridge Park Casino. At home, his heart belonged to his dogs, who were not just pets but loyal companions he adored. As he would say, “dogs are good people.”
Family was the heart of Dominick’s life. He treasured his Monday night father–daughter dates with Tracy, a weekly tradition that brought him much joy. Thanksgiving, his favorite holiday, was especially meaningful—he loved opening his home to family and friends, filling the day with food, warmth, and togetherness.
Dominick graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City in 1964 before continuing his education at Fisher College in Boston, where he earned his associate degree in 1976. During the Vietnam War, he bravely served his country as a helicopter gunner in the Army, earning recognition for his courage and commitment.
Following his military service, Dominick built a long and varied career. He worked with Nissan Motors as a regional service representative and training specialist. Later, he enjoyed connecting with people as a bartender and night manager at Mulhearns Restaurant and Pub. He eventually concluded his professional journey as a customer service manager at Nestle Water before retiring.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Tracy Bonanno Compton, and her husband Sean of North Attleboro, with whom he shared his home. He was a proud grandfather to Jake Bonanno and his wife Nicole of North Attleboro, as well as to Alyssa and Belle. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Maria Bonanno of Lakeland, Florida, and his loving longtime girlfriend, Jean.
Dominick’s funeral and burial will be private.
