BELT, DIRK J., 51, of Attleboro, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday. He was the spouse of Thomas J. Belt. Born in Boston on June 18, 1959, he was a son of the late Jacob and Ellen Catherine (Killoran) Belt. Mr. Belt devoted his career to helping others, particularly children and the elderly. Currently, he was employed as a special needs tutor for the Horace Mann Educational Associates in Franklin. He served as an elder advocate by volunteering as a Board Member of the Attleboro Council on Aging and at various nursing and rehabilitation facilities in the greater Attleboro area. In addition to his spouse, he leaves two children: Stephanie Lopez Belt and Christopher Lopez Belt both at home; two sisters: Mary Ellen Lavoie and her husband, Steven, of Attleboro and Jacqueline Jarvis and her husband, Paul, of Attleboro; a brother: Jacob J. Belt and his former spouse, Cynthia (Mould) both of Seekonk; his mother-in-law: Alice E. (Donohue) Simonin of East Providence; two generations of nieces and nephews; many cousins and several extended family members and dear friends. Visitation omitted. Memorial Service on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Murray Unitarian Universalist Church, 505 North Main Street - Route 152, Attleboro. Burial private.
