Obituary

Diane Anita Finnegan, 82, of North Attleboro passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026.

Born in Central Falls, RI on March 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Loretta (Girard) Charbonneau.

She worked at Texas Instruments where she met the love of her life, Francis Finnegan. They were married in a small hilltop chapel on Cuttyhunk Island. Diane and Fran were married for 50 wonderful years. Fran predeceased her less than a year prior to her passing. Their love and devotion to each other defined their lives and their family takes comfort in knowing they are together again.

Diane was active in the Angle Tree Garden Club, The North Attleborough Historical Society and the Representative Town meeting. The people of her community were important to her, and she delighted in spreading kindness through anonymous charitable acts both large and small. Diane kept a lovely garden and home that she enjoyed decorating for every holiday, often inspired by her lifelong appreciation for all things French, especially the language of her childhood.

Diane's greatest love was her family. Diane and Fran sailed New England waters and traveled the world together, toting along their two boys. She spent countless hours creatively planning everything, from family meals to family outings. She proudly managed the household with the skill and efficacy of a brilliant executive. She dedicated her life to her husband and sons and they will be forever grateful. Known for enjoying a good joke and bringing uproarious laughter and smiles wherever she went, she connected easily with friends and strangers alike. Always encouraging kindness, Diane brought a light-hearted warmth to the world that will be missed.

Diane leaves behind a loving family: her sons, Daniel F. Finnegan and his wife Andrea of Mansfield, MA, and David F. Finnegan and his wife Jill of Waltham, MA; and her brother, Paul Charbonneau of Rockport, ME. She was predeceased by her brother, Leon Charbonneau.

Family and Friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Transfiguration of Lord Parish - St Mark, Stanley Street, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 to 11 AM, followed by a Catholic Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum in North Attleboro.
