Diana (Martell) Neumann, age 92, died on September 6, 2021, in Providence, RI.
Diana is survived by her son Douglas Neumann and daughter-in-law Kathleen Flynn Neumann of Hollis, ME, her son Bruce Neumann of Wenonah, NJ, her brother Numan Allen Martell, Jr. of Arkport, NY, her brother-in-law Fred Neumann of Champagne-Urbana, IL and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband George Neumann and her parents Ione Martell and Neuman Martell (Major, U.S. Army).
Diana was born on June 8, 1929 in NYC. She attended the Pratt Institute in NYC, studied sewing through an extension course with the University of Rhode Island, and married noted author George C. Neumann in 1955. Together they raised sons Douglas and Bruce in New York and Connecticut, before retiring in North Attleboro, MA.
Diana was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker who also worked as a secretary, volunteered as a 4-H leader, and served on the Salisbury Elementary School PTA, running the school fair. Diana was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro, the Angle Tree Garden Club of North Attleboro, the American Women's Sewing Circle, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Brigade of the American Revolution. Diana was a loving family woman with a strong faith who enjoyed gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, classic movies, and who adored animals.
Burial in New Britain, CT will be private. A memorial service to be planned for the near future and all will be welcome to attend and celebrate Diana's life. Donations can be sent to the First Baptist Church of North Attleboro.
