Obituary

Diana Marie (Berger) Dumas, 79, of Plainville, MA, formerly of North Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, with her daughter at her side, comforted by the loving words of her family. She was the beloved wife of Alfred Robert Dumas, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, MA, on January 7, 1947, she was the daughter of the late George Berger and the late Rachelle (Lanseigne) Berger. Diana was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, MA, later residing in North Attleboro where she raised her family for nearly 45 years, prior to moving to Plainville.

Diana was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as an EKG technician in the Women's Army Corps at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, from her enlistment on January 18, 1965, until her honorable discharge on January 17, 1968. Following her military service and before her marriage, she continued her work as an EKG technician at the Lahey Clinic in Brookline. She was deeply proud of her service to her country. Diana and her daughter, who served as her chaperone, were honored to participate in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., an experience she described as one of the most meaningful days of her life.

Above all else, Diana was a devoted wife, mother, Memere, and homemaker. Earlier in life, she was employed as a waitress at several local restaurants, owned and operated an in-home daycare, and later worked with the Provider's Food Program. Regardless of her role, caring for others was always at the heart of what she did.

Diana was a communicant of Transfiguration of the Lord Parish - St. Mark in the Village of Attleboro Falls.

She found her greatest joy in spending time with family and friends, and especially treasured every moment with her four beloved grandsons, who were the light of her life. She also enjoyed crocheting, dining out, celebrating holidays, hosting family gatherings, and was fondly known as a true "social butterfly."

In addition to her husband, Alfred, she is survived by her children: Kenneth L. Dumas and his wife Jill A. (Gehrke) Dumas of Plainville, MA; Courtney B. Pillsbury and her husband Brian Pillsbury of Melrose, MA; and Matthew R. Dumas of Plainville, MA; and her four cherished grandchildren: Cole A. Dumas, Spencer K. Dumas, Quinn H. Dumas, and Owen H. Pillsbury.

She is also survived by her siblings: Anita Abdou, wife of the late Louis Abdou, of North Attleboro, MA; Charlotte Berger of Quincy, MA; and her sister-in-law Mary Ann Berger, wife of the late Richard Berger, of Roslindale, MA; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
