Derith Ann (Shea) Charlebois, 83, of Ivy Street, Attleboro Falls, died on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro surrounded by her loving family following a one week illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene L. "Gene" Charlebois to whom she was married on June 30, 1947 and died on October 22, 2003. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on November 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Mary (Cunningham) Shea. Mrs. Charlebois's family has long standing roots in the Attleboro and North Attleboro area since the 1870's. Mrs. Charlebois was raised and educated in Attleboro and was a 1947 graduate of Attleboro High School and it is there where she met her future husband, "Gene" and the couple would share 56 years of matrimony. She resided in Attleboro until moving to the Attleboro Falls neighborhood of North Attleboro 60 years ago. In earlier years, "Derry" as she was affectionately called, was a talented artist and poet. Her ability to draw architectural plans for residences without formal training and her skills as an illustrator attributed to her success. She leaves many examples of her artwork for family members to forever cherish. Mrs. Charlebois dedicated and devoted herself to her family and was the perfect example the best wife and mother. She assisted in any capacity needed at the family business founded by her husband's father many years ago, Elco Floor Covering, in Attleboro and later owned and operated by three generations of family members. Mrs. Charlebois attended St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, Attleboro Falls. She leaves two sons: Eugene L. "Chip" Charlebois, Jr. of Groton and Matthew E. Charlebois and his wife, Kate, of Raymond, Maine; six daughters: Mary S. "Suzy" Chace and her husband, Stephen, of Attleboro Falls; Ann Tausek and her husband, Paul, of Brewster; Kely J. Knowles and her husband, David, of Orleans; Patricia M. Mechlinski and her husband, Steven, of North Attleboro; Sarah M. "Sally" Huntington and her husband, Charles, of Westport and Amy M. Quigley of Attleboro Falls; 23 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren with two more expected this year; a sister: Paula Filosa and her husband, Frank, of North Conway, NH and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Patricia Shea whom had resided in North Attleboro. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Her Life by attending visitation on Saturday, March 16, 2013 any time from 12:00 - 2:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with a prayer service to be held immediately at the conclusion of visitation at 2:00 PM. Burial will be private. Children's room available during the memorial gathering and prayer service. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Boston or to the Hasbro Children's Hospital, Providence.
