Derek "D-Rock" Anthony Lapointe, 36, of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was the beloved son of Robert A. Lapointe Sr. of Attleboro and Rhonda Lee (Langevin) Araujo of New Bedford, MA, and the loving companion of Cynthia "Cindy" L. Podesta of Attleboro.
Born on December 10, 1982 in Attleboro, where he was a lifelong resident, Derek was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 2001, and later worked for seven years as a truck driver for Coca-Cola.
Derek loved working out and staying fit, and could often be found at Answer is Fitness in North Attleboro. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, dirt-biking, four-wheeling, watching UFC fighting, videos on YouTube, and listening to music. Derek held a very special place in his heart for his English Bulldogs, "Mario" and "Luigi". More than anything, though, he loved being with his family and good friends.
In addition to his parents and his companion, Cindy, he leaves his dear brother, Robert A. Lapointe of Pawtucket, RI. He was the nephew of Gene Lapointe and his wife, Debra (Angus) Lapointe, of Kentucky; Dianne Perry and her husband, Brian Perry, of Rome, NY; and Roland Lapointe and his wife, Nancy (Penny) Lapointe, of Attleboro, MA. He was the adoring uncle of Alexis Lapointe, Sierra Lapointe, and Bobbie Jean Lapointe. He leaves Cindy's loving family, including her parents: Giancarlo Podesta and Laurie A. (Desmarais) Podesta of Attleboro; her brother: Michael D. Podesta and his wife, Olivia D. (Frye) Podesta, and their son, Alexander D. Podesta, whom Derek affectionately called "Stuey"; and Cindy's sister: Francesca Podesta of Rumford, RI, and her companion, Daniel V. Sequeira. Derek is survived by his cousins, his extended family, and many dear friends.
