Dennis C. Hillman

Dennis C. Hillman, 68, of North Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, died on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Our Lady's Haven in Fairhaven, Massachusetts where he had been a resident for the past week. He was the former husband of Deborah (Jenks) Jackson of Buxton, Maine. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on December 5, 1945, he was a son of the late Roscoe Harold and Virginia Edna (Cash) Hillman. He was raised and received his primary education in North Attleboro and was a 1963 graduate of Farragut Academy in Toms River, New Jersey. Following his graduation from Farragut Academy, a military prep school, Mr. Hillman enlisted in the United States Navy on September 23, 1965 and served until his honorable discharge and transfer to the United States Naval Reserves on April 16, 1968. He returned to military service and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1977 - 1992. As an antique dealer, furniture restorer and clocks man, Mr. Hillman owned and operated several businesses including the Eagle's Roost and Eastern Mass Clock Service both in North Attleboro and the Old County Clocks in Rockland, Maine. He had also been employed at Whiting & Davis in Plainville. Mr. Hillman returned to North Attleboro ten years ago from Maine where he had resided for many years to be a caregiver to his mother. He was a longtime member of Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls. Mr. Hillman was a member of numerous professional antique and clock associations. In addition to his former wife, he leaves two sons: Michael P. Hillman of Mattapoisett and Peter H. Hillman of Buxton, Maine; two brothers: Arthur C. Hillman of North Attleboro and Russell H. Hillman of Attleboro and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the brother of the late Rozalind "Bunny" Fontaine-Flanagan. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation with Veteran's Honors on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service with Veteran's Honors Celebrating His Life immediately following visitation on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of the Central Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro. Children's room is available during visitation and the funeral service.
