Denise E. Anthony

Denise E. (McKinnon) Anthony, R.N., 82, of Attleboro, MA passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, MA.  She was the beloved wife of the late John James Anthony, Sr. to whom she was married on July 22, 1962 and who died on February 13, 2013.
Born in Boston, MA on May 25, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Michael Francis McKinnon and the late Dorothy Mary (Malcolm) McKinnon.  Raised and educated in Brockton, MA, she later matriculated and graduated from the former Pondville School of Practical Nursing in Norfolk, MA.  Following graduation she was employed by her alma mater and later at the Norwood Hospital, the former Ridgewood Court Nursing Home, and lastly as a detox nurse at Norcap Lodge.
She was a communicant of the former St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church in the Dodgeville neighborhood in the City of Attleboro and later at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Seekonk.
Mrs. Anthony resided in Mansfield prior to moving to the City of Attleboro in 1970.
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony joyously celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 2012 amidst family and friends and had renewed their wedding vows in Hawaii for their 40th wedding anniversary.  She had previously visited Hawaii and enjoyed time in Canada and taking car rides.
The holidays were her favorite time of the year having hosted many family gatherings before passing the torch off to her grandson.
She treasured the times visiting Bristol Lodge AF & AM with her son-in-law, Michael, and thought of the lodge's members as "her boys".
She will be lovingly remembered for her "sweet tooth", her love for butterflies and dragonflies. eating at buffets but mostly creating lifelong memories with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves three children: John James Anthony, Jr and his significant other, Beth Coombs, of Uncasville, Connecticut; Deborah Jean Owens and her husband, Michael Ouellette, of Attleboro, MA and Lisa Marie Anthony and her companion, Russell Sanford, Jr., of Attleboro, MA; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her brother: Kevin McKinnon and his wife. Susan McKinnon,  of Foxboro, MA; her sister: Dorothy Petroni and her husband,  Richard Petroni,  of Walpole, MA; her sister-in-law: Barbara Mckinnon of Rockwell, Iowa ; brothers-in-law: Gene Nault of Sharon, MA and Edward Defelice of Stoughton, MA;  sister-in-law: Mary Anthony of  Yarmouth, Maine and her numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Last but not least her two faithful companions her pitbull, Stella, and her bully, Pepper.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m.
Following services an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced.
Burial will be private.
