David Manuel Rivera Corretjer

David Manuel Rivera Corretjer, 27, of Englewood, California; formerly of Attleboro and Brighton; died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on May 13, 1985, he was a son of Marisol Corretjer of Attleboro and Raymond Rivera of Milford. In addition, he leaves his siblings: Katherine S. Rivera Corretjer of Milford and Michael R. Rivera Corretjer of Attleboro. David was raised and educated in Attleboro where he attended public schools and later moved to Brighton and attended Trinity High School from which he graduated in 2003. He attended Boston College where he was a member of the Boston College Cheerleading Team and later moved to California. A talented gymnastics teacher, David taught at All Olympia Gym. In California, David devoted and dedicated himself to educating autistic children and their families. A crusader for the rights of autistic children, he championed for their cause and trained his beloved "Bailey" as a service dog to aid autistic children. He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor and laughter, his jovial personality, his love for cinema, his intelligence, his love for acting, dance and the theatre, his love for the California beaches, in particular, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Additional family members include his mother's fiancé: Emiliano Filiberti of Attleboro and his father's wife: Yolanda (Gonzalez) Rivera of Milford; his step-siblings: Amarilis Santana of Brockton; Nestor L. Santana of Taunton and Erojane Lopez of Milford; his maternal grandfather: Caesar Corretjer and his wife, Conchita Corretjer, of Spain; his maternal grandmother: Rebecca Carbia of Miami; his paternal grandfather: Ramon Rivera of Puerto Rico and the late Elvira Cordero and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday,May 16, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue(exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Friday, May 17, at 12:00 Noon in the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue(exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service. Burial will follow in North Purchase Cemetery, North Main Street, Attleboro. Do not send flowers.
