NOTE: CHANGE OF SERVICE DATE Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life Gathering anytime between the hours of 3:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Florence Hayward Sweet Club House, 44 Peck Street, Attleboro. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David John Kettell, 44, of Bank Street, Attleboro died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was the husband of Marion A. (Higgins) Kettell to whom he was married on September 1, 2012 following almost twenty years of companionship. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on January 3, 1969, he was a son of Maria Kettell of North Attleboro, fiancé of Gary Betts of North Attleboro. He attended Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School. Mr. Kettell was employed as a machine operator for Advanced Metal Concepts in North Attleboro for more than 13 years until 2002 and was employed as a house painter for many years for Gray Brothers. In his youth, he attended Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls with his family. As an ardent sports enthusiast, he enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia with a special love for the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics. He treasured the times spent going to music concerts. He adored his two beloved cats, "Brownie" and "Patches". David had a great love for the game of basketball. As a student at the Falls Elementary School he helped the Falls Falcons win many championships. His love for basketball was so great that he would accept a challenge to play anybody and would always amaze everyone with his quick moves and ability to make full and half court shots with such ease all while wearing his trademark work boots! He will be lovingly remembered for his support of the US troops and his sincere heart and generous, giving ways to charity. A man of many talents, Mr. Kettell enjoyed painting, sports, fixing things around his home, helping friends, donating to charities and supporting natural disasters, nature, animals, weather, space and the solar system and star gazing. He will be most remembered for being there for his beloved daughter, Tanya, as he would say "the best thing he ever created". He would often come across as very blunt always saying what he felt even if, at times, it was not the most appropriate. A friend you could always trust and count on, David was brutally honest, shy, caring, loving, devoted and dedicated to his work. Often times his wife, Marion, would be the one to know the true "David". He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful father, soul mate and husband, friend, coworker, brother and son. He will be forever missed but never forgotten and will remain in the hearts and memories of all whom were blessed by his presence. In addition to his wife, mother and her fiancé, he is survived by his precious daughter: Tanya C. Kettell of New Bedford; his siblings: Kenneth Kettell, Michael Machado, Jan Barios and Donna King and several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, members of his wife's family and dear friends.
