David Samuel Johnson

David Samuel Johnson, 74, of Cumberland, RI, died at his residence on Saturday, April 28, 2012, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the husband of Linda A. (Jeffrey) Johnson. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 24, 1937, he was a son of the late Francis and Beatrice E. (McAdam) Johnson. He attended Hope High School and earned his associate's degree from Johnson and Wales University. Mr. Johnson proudly served his nation in the United States Army. He served from November 1956 until his honorable discharge in November 1958. He was employed by New England Telephone for 36 years prior to his retirement in 1998. In addition to his wife of 51 years, Linda, he leaves two children: David A. Johnson of Cumberland, RI, and Donna A. Henschel of Uxbridge, MA. He also leaves two grandchildren, several extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Franklin J. Johnson. Visitation has been respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a committal service with Military Honors on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the RI Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI, by meeting at the administrative parking lot at 10:45 AM to proceed accordingly for an 11:00 AM service. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Johnson's name may be made to the Dyer-Lake Charitable Foundation, Inc., a registered 501 (c) 3 organization, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, North Attleboro, MA, 02760, to benefit the Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island.
