David M. Burke, 80, of James Street, North Attleboro, died on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Pauline F. (Frietas) Burke to whom he was married on May 2, 1953. Born in Medford, Massachusetts on February 13, 1932, he was a son of the late Frank E. Burke, Sr. and Alwilda M. (Bagley) Burke. Raised and educated in Stoneham, Mr. Burke was a graduate of Stoneham Technical High School. He proudly served with the United States Army. Mr. Burke was employed by B. W. Burke Construction Company for ten years before becoming a member of the Carpenter's Union and working in the Taunton and Brockton areas for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1980. In 2001, he began his employment with the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home where he served as an assistant to the funeral director for several years. A resident of North Attleboro since 1960, he previously resided in Brockton and the Teaticket neighborhood of Falmouth on Cape Cod. He was an ardent Red Sox fan in good times and bad. A man of strong religious beliefs, Mr. Burke was a communicant of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls where he served his church family as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, a church fair volunteer and Eucharistic Minister. He was awarded the Marian Medal from the Fall River Diocese recognizing his contributions to St. Mark Church. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he leaves four daughters: Deborah "Debbie" A. Bryant of Norton; Karen S. Albritton of Safety Harbor, Florida; Lynda L. Glaude of Putnam, Connecticut and Mary-Kathleen Foley of Mansfield; eleven grandchildren: Shawn Bryant, Tracy Suarez, Erin Goldsmith, Stephanie Bryant, Desirae Glaude, Zachariah Primiano, Joshua Primiano, Nathaniel Albritton, Katheryn Foley, Dylan Glaude and Jonah Primiano; three great grandchildren: Isabella Goldsmith, Gianna Suarez and Lyla Gloude; his siblings: Frank E. Burke, Jr. of Stoneham; Bernard "Pat" Burke of Marshfield; George E. Burke of Stoneham; A. Maureen Aruda of Stoneham; Ethel Duff of Pelham, New Hampshire; Margaret M. Hayes of Stoneham and Anita "Nancy" R. England in Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late William A. Burke. Thomas A. Frechette, Pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:45 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
