Daniel Joseph O'Connell

Daniel Joseph O'Connell, 85, of Plainville, MA passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Linda Ruth (Simms) O'Connell to whom he was married on June 28, 1969, and passed away on May 30, 2017.
Born in Taunton, MA on November 4, 1936, he was a son of the late Charles Cornelius O'Connell and the late Elsie (Kirk) O'Connell.  Raised and educated in Dighton, MA, Mr. O'Connell was a 1956 graduate of Taunton High School and a 1960 graduate of Providence College.  He was proud of his Irish heritage.
Mr. O'Connell started his career as a science librarian for the City of Providence Public Library before becoming a draftsman for the former Foxboro Company and ultimately was employed as a CAD designer for both Gillette and Raytheon.
A resident of Plainville for the past 16 years, he previously resided in Mansfield, MA for 14 years.
Always a fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed weightlifting, running, taekwondo, and bicycling.  In earlier years, he enjoyed horseback riding and frequented trail rides as he taught lessons and held his small plane pilot's license.  He loved archery and he enjoyed the times spent teaching his daughter and grandchildren how to shoot bows.
He loved technology and would always keep up to date with the most recent innovations.
Mr. O'Connell leaves his beloved daughter: Erin Leigh (O'Connell) Waite and her husband, Michael J. Waite, with whom he resided in Plainville, MA and two grandchildren: Jesse D. Waite and Molly E. Waite both of Plainville, MA.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.  A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. in the "Memorial Chapel".
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Daniel's name may be made to Sha'ar Hashamayiam, 2 Canton Street - Suite A21, Stoughton, MA 02072.
