Daniel C Alves

Daniel C. Alves, 81, of Elmwood Avenue, Uxbridge, formerly of Fall River; passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley F. (Briggs) Alves, a North Attleboro native, to whom he was married June 1957. Born in Fall River, MA on January 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Manuel C. and Adelina (Medeiros) Alves. He was raised and educated in Fall River where he was a graduate of Durfee High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1956. Mr. Alves was employed as manager by the Gilmore Tools prior to his retirement 15 years ago. Previously, he had been employed by Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing. He was a lifelong resident of the City of Fall River prior to moving to Uxbridge three years ago. Mr. Alves had a passion and love for woodworking and enjoyed boating and fishing. His most treasured times, however, were those spent with his cherished family creating lifelong memories. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he leaves three sons: Daniel Alves and his wife, Ann ; Jeffrey Alves and Mary Aiello and Keith Alves and his wife, Jean; his grandchildren: Danny; Jeffrey and his wife, Jill; Amanda and Kevin; a great granddaughter, Emma and many members of his wife's family and his dear friends. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran's Honors Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral Service with Veteran's Honors on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro.
