Dan Martin Dees, 78, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was the longtime companion and loving partner of Marcia Cheverie with whom he resided for more than 20 years.
Born in Camden, Alabama on October 13, 1943, he was one of eleven children born to the late Martin Wade and Maggie Elnora (McCants) Dees.
Dan graduated Valedictorian from Camden Academy in 1961 and received his Bachelor of Science from Alabama A&M University and his Master of Science from Fisk University. He worked with E.I. DuPont Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware for 30 years prior to his retirement as a Marketing Director in 2000 (Y2K).
A born entertainer, Dan began singing in a church choir at a very early age. Dan loved to share his gift of voice and worked as an entertainer on cruise ships for many years. He took advantage of any opportunity to sing and perform in front of family or friends.
An avid golfer, he played on the Golf AMTOUR winning multiple tournaments including Player of the Year in 2019. A member of the AAGA Dan won the Senior's Championship in 2018. Dan could always be found at Chemawa Golf Course on Thursdays playing in the Senior League.
In addition to Marcia, he leaves two children: Kimberly West of Gallatin, Tennessee and Darrell M. Dees of Charlotte, North Carolina: his grandchildren Bria Mauri'anne Drake of Nashville, Tennessee and Jared Martin Dees of Charlotte, North Carolina; his great grandson De'Mani Amir Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee; his brothers, Edward C Dees, Earnest H. Dees, Martin Dees, Jr., Otis C. Dees, Clarence C. Dees, his sister Delores Willis and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman H. Dees, Franklin D. Dees, Rev. Lloyd E. Dees and Henry E. Dees.
A Celebration of Life will be held on a future date and at a time to be announced on this website.
