Cynthia Jean (Reis) Sheldon, 67, of Attleboro, MA, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI.
Born on October 17, 1951 in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Augusto Reis Sr., and the late Ethel (Fonseca) Reis.
A resident of Attleboro for the past ten years, Cynthia previously lived for more than thirty years in Swansea, MA.
A graduate of East Providence High School, Class of 1970, she received her Nursing Degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Rhode Island School of Practical Nursing in 1972, and her Associate in Science Degree from Fisher Junior College in 1988 with Highest Honors in her major field of study, Medical Assisting. Cynthia also completed a nursing internship at Rhode Island Group Health Association in Swansea, MA.
She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Roger Williams General Hospital in Providence, RI, at Crestwood Nursing Home in Warren, RI, and at Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan of New England in Swansea, where she was the recipient of the Diamond Award.
A kind and caring woman of deep faith, she was dedicated to helping others throughout her life. Cynthia cherished her family and loved spending time with them, especially the loves of her life, her grandchildren. She was a wonderful listener who enjoyed walking, reading, and dancing, and who held a special place in her heart for her cats.
She was the loving mother of Melissa J. Rebocho and her husband, John P. Rebocho, of Attleboro, MA, and Aaron D. Sheldon and his wife, Lindsay (Raposo) Sheldon, of Whitinsville, MA. She leaves her much loved grandchildren, Logan Tyler Rebocho and Blake Edward Sheldon, and step-grandchildren, Aaron Christopher Rebocho and Sabrina Rose Mitchell. Cynthia was the dear sister of Priscilla Reis of Inkom, ID; Patricia Carey of Rehoboth, MA; Augusto Reis Jr., of East Providence, RI; Michael Reis of Richmond, RI; and David Reis of Seekonk, MA. She leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to honor and remember Cynthia by gathering for a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
