Cynthia "Cindy" Jeanne (Poirier) Doherty, 60, of Blackstone, MA, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, RI. She was the beloved wife of Paul Edward Doherty, to whom she was married on August 7, 2004. Born on December 29, 1956 in Waltham, MA, she was the cherished daughter of Paul Poirier of Wayland, MA, and Patricia Ann (Hamilton) Cwirka of Framingham, MA. A graduate of Wayland High School, Class of 1974, she received her Associate's degree from Aquinas Junior College. A resident of Blackstone since 2004, she previously lived in Bellingham, MA, and worked for many years as the Finance Director for the Town of Sharon, MA. She previously was employed as an Accountant for the Town of Blackstone, MA.A selfless, generous, and caring woman, Cindy brought light and laughter to all who knew her. Cindy will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and special friend. Her greatest passion was her husband and her family, with all of whom she loved spending time. She enjoyed music and playing the guitar, and had a special place in her heart for her faithful dog and cat: "Daisy" and "Simon".In addition to her husband and her parents, she is survived by her loving children: Lyn Marie Penney of Woonsocket, RI; Terrence Edward Doherty and his wife, Darcelle Doherty, of Southbridge, MA; Caitlin Elizabeth Doherty of Quincy, MA; Elizabeth Ann Penny-Leis, her husband, Kevin R. Leis, and her partner, Sarah A. Guindon, of Milford, MA. She was the adoring grandmother of Eleanor J.M. Leis. Cindy was the beloved sister of Kimberly Avila and her husband, Kevin Avila, of Hudson, MA; Sharyn Piche and her husband, Guy Piche, of Houston, TX; John Poirier and his wife, Monique Poirier, of Wayland, MA; and Andrea C. Cronin and her husband, George F. Cronin, Jr., of Framingham, MA. She leaves two generations of nieces and nephews, and many friends who will miss her dearly.
