Curtis Clark Dingley, 92, of Johnston, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. Curtis was the beloved husband of Joan Marie (Gustafsson) Dingley, whom he married on September 4, 1950.
Born on April 24, 1928 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Raymond Irving Dingley and the late Ruth (Johnson) Dingley.
Curtis was a graduate of East High School in Pawtucket, RI and proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Marines. He worked as a Rigger for the Pelletier Trucking Company in Pawtucket, RI, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 251, and then worked for more than thirty years in the field of Engineering, Building Development and Planning for Joann Fabrics in Lowell, MA, before retiring in 1993.
A resident of Johnston for the past three years, he previously lived in Seekonk, MA.
Curtis was an avid Outdoorsman whose favorite pastime was fishing - he would find a way to fish before and after work almost every day. He was a former member of the Bristol Fishing Club, and a member of the Masonic Temple. Curtis thoroughly enjoyed gardening; camping; traveling, cross country skiing and golfing with Joan; and folk music. He was a collector of duck decoys. More than anything in his life, though, he loved being with his family.
In addition to being survived by his wife, Curtis was the loving father of Mark R. Dingley of North Kingstown, RI, and his late wife, Diane M. (Gariepy) Dingley; Scott D. Dingley of Narragansett, RI; Ruth D. Lincoln of Cumberland, RI, who was predeceased by Jack Lincoln and Andre Goisie; Robert E. Dingley and his wife, Mary (Blanchette) Dingley, of Smithfield, RI; and the late Lynne Ann Dingley. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of five grandsons, five granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren. Curtis was predeceased by his siblings: Irving Dingley, Earl Dingley, and Kenneth Dingley. He leaves several nieces and nephews and his extended family.
