Cortney Lynn Trotta, 37, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 14, 1984, she was the beloved daughter of Cheryl A. (Peters) Trotta of Smithfield, RI.
Cortney was raised and educated in Smithfield and was a graduate of Smithfield High School and attended Community College of Rhode Island in Lincoln, RI, for two years.
She was a thoughtful and compassionate caregiver for autistic children for several years.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed collecting minerals and rocks and had a lifelong love for animals, for spending time at the beach, and enjoyed simply making memories created with her family and friends. The love of her life was her late pitbull, "Lupo".
In addition to her mother, she leaves her brother: Tony Vivieros of Smithfield, Rhode Island; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; her beloved cousins: Julie, Jenna, Alex, Robbie, Savanna, Ronnie, and Nicole; and her second cousins: Camden Randle of Smithfield, RI, and Michael Monigan of North Smithfield, RI. Cortney also leaves her extended family and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held privately for family only at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Cortney's name may be made to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street, Providence, RI 02903.
