Corliss Marie (LaChance) Mello, 79, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away on September 12, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born in Attleboro, MA, on January 28, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Florian Raymond LaChance and the late Edna C. (Bouchard) LaChance. A lifelong resident of North Attleboro, she was a 1963 graduate of North Attleboro High School and resided in town until shortly before her death. It was there she met the love of her life, the late James Richard Mello, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2016.
She was the long-time office manager for the family dental practice of the late Dr. James Dooley. Later in life, she was one of the first employees at Wrentham’s Cracker Barrel store, where she enjoyed working until her retirement. She also worked as a realtor for Jack Conway Realty.
Corliss will be remembered by her family and friends for her warm, kind, and hardworking nature. Though quiet in presence, her spirit was bold. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband in their RV—visiting numerous national parks, seeing sights like the hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque, NM, and journeying all the way to Denali in Alaska. She also enjoyed working in her yard, camping, and attending her grandkids’ activities and games. Her favorite times were those spent gathered with family, including holidays, celebrations, and ordinary Sunday dinners, creating lifelong memories that will forever be cherished.
She was the mother of Lori L. Joubert, wife of the late Glenn M. Joubert, of Smithfield, RI, and Michael D. Mello of North Attleboro, MA. Also remaining to cherish her memory are five grandchildren: Shayna L. Joubert Barradale and her husband, Nicholas Barradale, of Attleboro, MA; Caitlin J. Whelihan and her husband, Steven A. Whelihan Jr., of Hampden, MA; Michael G. Joubert and his wife Saarah Joubert (Khan), of Providence, RI; Gregory J. Joubert and his wife, Kelly (Collins) Joubert, of Cumberland, Rhode Island; Makayla A. Mello of North Attleboro, MA; three great grandchildren: Ensley, Camille, and Paxton Whelihan; her brother: Donald R. LaChance of Wilmington, North Carolina; and nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, the late Raymond R. LaChance.
The family would like to give special thanks to Lea Adina, who was a kind and generous caregiver to Corliss in her final years.
