d. December 26, 2015

Constance Ann (Glod) Marquedant, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, following a recent stroke. Connie is survived by her husband Francis Marquedant of Hopkinton MA, and her three children: John Marquedant and his wife Mala of Rockville, MD, James Marquedant and his wife Gail of Mendon, MA and Thomas Marquedant of Hopkinton, MA. She is also survived by four sisters: Josephine (Glod) Stingl of McLean, VA; Cecelia (Glod) McQuade of Bellingham, MA; Elizabeth (Glod) Lotz of Naples, FL; and Judith (Glod) Chofay and her husband, Ronald Chofay of Woonsocket, RI; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Marquedant Mulcahy of East Sandwich, MA; and her bother-in-law, Joseph Marquedant of Hopkinton, MA. Connie also leaves five grandchildren, two great-grandsons and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Glod; her mother, Mary (Dobek) Glod; her brother, Albert Glod; her brother, John Glod; her sister, Helen (Glod) Brambilla; and her sister, Shirley (Glod) Clark. Connie was born on September 11, 1932 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1950. She then went on to the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing where she would graduate in 1954 and begin her career as a Registered Nurse. Connie always spoke fondly of the wonderful group of women who were her nursing school classmates, particularly her life-long friends Helen Palmer Hamilton of Marlboro, MA and Dorothy Stanton of Worcester, MA. It was the Palmer family who introduced their mutual friends Connie and Fran to one another. Connie began her nursing career at Woonsocket Hospital. She continued to work as an R.N. for a number of years before marrying. As she began raising her family, Connie transitioned from hospital to nursing home care to give her a more flexible schedule to handle the growing demands of her family. She spent many years as a head nurse at the Oakledge Manor Nursing Home in Hopedale, MA, as well as others in the Metro West region. Connie finished her nursing career at the Milford Geriatric Authority in Milford, MA in 1986. Connie was married to Fran on November 12, 1960 and they remained devoted to each other for 55 years. The joys in Connie's life came from good movies, nearly anything on public television, gardening and from her family, whether it be her siblings, children or grandchildren. Family cookouts with extended family were the highlights of her life. Visitation has respectfully been omitted. Her family is planning a celebration of Connie's life to be held in the spring of 2016. Memorial contributions in Constance's memory made to a public food bank or to a public television station of your choice would be appreciated.
