Constance F. Bergeron “Connie” 82, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield.

Born in Lincoln on January 25, 1942, she was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Flore (Riel) Bergeron.

Connie was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Church throughout her life, a place that served as both her spiritual home and a community hub where she forged lasting connections. Her unwavering faith was evident in her regular attendance at services, where she found solace and strength among fellow parishioners.

Possessing a generous spirit, Connie was always willing to assist others, whether it was lending a listening ear to someone in need or providing practical help to those facing difficulties. Her warm smile and open heart made her a beloved figure in the community. Many referred to her affectionately as Auntie Connie, a title that reflected the nurturing and familial bond she cultivated with those around her. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and valued, often remembering small details about their lives and checking in on them regularly.

Despite her challenging and brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease, which gradually took away her memories and some of her independence, Connie remained steadfast in her kindness and compassion. Even as the disease progressed, she continued to greet everyone with warmth and love, her spirit undiminished by the struggles she faced. Family and friends often marveled at her ability to connect with them, even when her words sometimes failed her. Her laughter and gentle touch were reminders of the vibrant person she had always been.

Connie’s resilience in the face of adversity inspired those around her. She became a symbol of hope and strength, demonstrating that even in the darkest times, love and kindness could shine through. Her legacy of compassion and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her, ensuring that her spirit would live on in the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
