Conrad Achille Morel, 96, of Attleboro, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the loving and beloved husband of the late Dorothy "Dot" M. (Cushman) Morel to whom he was married on November 25, 1950 and who died on December 5, 2010.Born on December 22, 1920 in West Warwick, RI, he was the son of the late Achille Morel and Julia (Schoos) Morel.A resident of Attleboro, MA since 1950, he worked for many years as a Department Manager at Bruce Diamond Company in Attleboro before retiring. Conrad honorably and proudly served our country as a First Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. He was a longtime member of the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church in North Attleboro, MA. The church played an important part in Conrad's life. He was a generous contributing member and benefactor of Old Town where his spirit will forever be felt.Conrad was a member of Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M., the D.A.V., and the V.F.W. of North Attleboro, MA. A kind and caring man with a wonderful sense of humor, he was a skilled craftsman who was especially adept at bird woodcarvings. He is survived by his loving son, Frederick J. Morel and his wife, Elaine M. (Thibodeau) Morel of Birmingham, AL. He was the adoring grandfather of Adam P. Morel of AL; Glenn F. Morel of VA; and Ryan M. Morel of HI; and great-grandfather of Claire E. Morel and Abigale G. Morel of AL; Colby B. Morel of VA; and Dante K. Morel of HI. He is survived by his dear niece, Joyce Charbonneau of South Attleboro, MA. Conrad leaves his very special longtime friends, John C. Rhyno and Sherry Rhyno of North Attleboro, MA, who truly were like family to him. He was the brother of the late Irene (Morel) Harpin and the late Lillian (Morel) MacVicar.Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, with a Masonic Service held at 6:30 p.m. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church, 675 Old Post Road, North Attleboro, MA, with Rev. Kelly Thibeault officiating.Burial with full Military Honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA, at which time Conrad will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Dot.In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Conrad to the First Congregational "Oldtown" Church Memorial Fund, 675 Old Post Road, North Attleboro, MA, 02760, would be appreciated by his family.Children's room is available during the visitation.Those in need of a local ride to the visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such complimentary transportation.To send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an online guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com .
