Clayton Douglas Rheaume, 55, of Oakridge Avenue, North Attleboro; a native of Brockton; died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 22, 2012 upon arrival to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Massachusetts after having been stricken ill at his residence. He was the husband of Mary M. (Moore) Rheaume to whom he was married on August 6, 1983. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on May 6, 1956, he was a son of the late Ernest Rheaume, Jr. and June Marie (Hunt) Rheaume. He was raised and educated in Brockton schools where he was a graduate of Brockton High School. While in high school, Mr. Rheaume was a member of the Brockton High School Marching Band having been classically trained as a jazz drummer. In later years, Mr. Rheaume was a member of the band, "Fire Fox". He resided in North Attleboro for the past seven years having returned to the community from his native Brockton. In his youth he was a member of the Brockton Little League and as an ardent sports enthusiast he played midget, junior and high school football and organized hockey, baseball, basketball and football in later years. An ardent photographer, Mr. Rheaume enjoyed capturing a moment in time on film. A lover of the outdoors, he treasured the time spent on canoe trips, hiking in the wilderness, hunting and fishing and studying astronomy, meteorology and taxidermy. Mr. Rheaume was employed for the past seven years as a truck driver for Boro Sand and Stone Corporation in North Attleboro. A lover of remote control model airplanes, Mr. Rheaume was featured in stories published in the Sun Chronicle and Brockton Enterprise. He will be lovingly remembered for all the things he did for others both personally and in his professional career. He spoke with great pride and adoration for his role in helping erect a flag pole in front of the Taunton City Hall where the country's colors could fly proudly. During the water crisis of 1976, Mr. Rheaume and a friend used their skills and resourcefulness to dig a well by hand using the assistance of a military entrenching tool. This perseverance and determination, he had wished, would be an example for others. He was a former member of Nickel Archery of West Bridgewater. An expert marksman, Mr. Rheaume was a member of the Ames Rifle and Pistol Club in North Easton for more than 25 years and was the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Expert Award bestowed by the National Rifle Association. Mr. Rheaume competed on the state and national levels and volunteered to instruct the Junior National Rifle Association Members. In addition to his wife of 28 years, he leaves a brother: Glenn C. Rheaume of East Bridgewater; two sisters: Sandra G. Rheaume of Brockton and Carol A. Rheaume of New Bedford; several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and close friends. He was the brother of the late Donna Marie (Rheaume) Brundige who died on September 11, 2007.
