Clare Virginia Boardman

April 9, 1927 — September 3, 2022

Clare Virginia (Rodell) Boardman of Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully on September 3, 2022, at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro, MA.  She was 95 years old.
Born in North Attleboro, MA to Frederick A. and Florence M. (Whiting) Rodell, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry J. Boardman and two children: Nancy Boardman and Thomas Boardman.
She is survived by her son: Tim Boardman of North Attleboro, MA; her son: Jeff Boardman and daughter-in-law, Lori, of Newcastle, CO; her daughter: Sue Casey and son-in-law, The Honorable John Casey, Chief Justice of the MA Probate and Family Courts, of Scituate, MA; and daughter: Mary Fallet and son-in-law, Thierry, of Carlsbad, CA.
She was adored by her three granddaughters:  Kialie Graziano, Sarah Carroll, and Erin Casey, along with her two precious great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Murphy Joan.
Clare worked for the telephone company in Attleboro until meeting and marrying Harry in 1949. Together they shared a love of travel and adventure including their ski trips to Europe and golf trips to Bermuda. On most winter weekends they would trek to Ossipee, New Hampshire where all their children learned to ski at Mt. Whittier. Clare somehow made certain that everyone had enough warm clothing and food to enjoy each weekend.
After Harry's tragic death on Christmas Eve in 1967, Clare was left to not only raise six children but to be the head of the household. This she somehow did with ease and finesse. Clare loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with her many friends throughout the years.
She relished the opportunity to grab her change purse when a family member or friend mentioned going to the "casino". She loved to travel, especially to visit her children, who over the years moved to different parts of the country.
Clare was active on the Board of Trustees at Twin Beech Condominium Association and resident "ambassador" at Christopher Heights in Attleboro. She volunteered for many years at both the Sturdy Memorial Hospital and at the Robert J. Coelho Middle School in South Attleboro where the students and staff referred to her as "Mrs. B ". They especially loved it when she showed up with her famous monkey bread.
Clare loved to cook and prepare food for family and friends and kept the residents and staff at Christopher Heights happy and full by making her countless batches of deviled eggs, banana bread and pepper jelly, to name a few.
Fall/Winter Sundays were not complete without a "good" Patriots game, chicken wings and a spicy Bloody Mary.
Clare was also an avid knitter and enjoyed making hats, scarves, mittens and sweaters for family, charity, and holiday events.
On the day Clare passed her baby granddaughter Murphy wore her latest creation, a red sparkly sweater she refuses to remove.
