Claire Jeanne Walton

Claire Jeanne Walton, 80, of Attleboro, passed away at Sturdy Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 10, 2015. Born in Attleboro on March 18, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Reginald B. Walton and Jennie L. (Currier) Walton. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School Class of 1954, and Pondville Hospital School of Nursing. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Claire cared for patients at various nursing homes in both Fall River and Attleboro, as well as at the Wrentham State School. She lived for several years in Fall River, and made her home in Attleboro most of her life. She was an avid reader, finding particular enjoyment in poetry. She was a wonderful crocheter. Claire also delighted in her role as a past fan club member of New England country musicians Eddie Zack & The Hayloft Jamboree, and was a past member of the Attleboro Advent Christian Church. She leaves her loving and beloved nieces: Cynthia Curry of Rehoboth, MA, and Judith M. Mello and her husband, Thomas J. Mello, of Rehoboth, MA, as well as three generations of beloved nieces and nephews. She was the lifelong companion of the late John Jacome of Fall River, MA. Claire was the sister of the late Richard Walton, Virginia Mitchell, Marion Snow, Barbara Tuck, and Philip Walton. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 9:00 - 9:45 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation on Thursday, July, 16, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Rehoboth. Children's room available during visitation and the funeral service.
