Claire E. (Soares)Thorp, 84, longtime resident of Attleboro Falls, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Canterbury Woods in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late John L. Thorp. Born in Lincoln, Rhode Island on November 29, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Manuel C. and Mary E. (Medeiros) Soares. Claire was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1948. She also attended Bridgewater State Teacher's College with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Mrs. Thorp was employed as a school teacher in Wrentham, MA and Oakland, CA and a substitute teacher in North Attleboro prior to her retirement. She was known for her love of sewing and knitting. Claire leaves two children: Helenanne (Thorp) Judisch and her husband, Alan R. Judisch of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; David John Thorp of Attleboro Falls; three grandchildren: Emily (Judisch) McKenzie of Fairfield, Connecticut; Peter W. Thorp and Moira M. Thorp, both of Bristol, Rhode Island; one brother and two sisters: Francis Soares of Hope Valley, Rhode Island; Theresa Collins of Ashton, Rhode Island; Regina Fagundes of Lincoln, Rhode Island. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation from 1:00-2:30 PM and a Celebration of Life Service with Rev.
