Charles Albert White, Jr., 84 , of Norton , passed away at home on Saturday, March 15, 2014. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Dumaine), to whom he was married on December 31, 1949 and who passed away on October 12, 2005. Born in Randolph on October 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Charles Albert White, Sr. and Edna (Erickson) White. Mr. White worked at textile mills in Norton and Canton for many years. He was employed as a machinist at Bay State Tap and Die in Mansfield for over 25 years prior to his retirement at age 64. He also served in the National Guard. Mr. White attended the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton where he served as custodian and layleader for many years. Charles was known as a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to pass the time working on both cars and trucks, as well as driving tractors. Mr. White is survived by his children: Susann Stanhope, Sandra Boudreau, Georgiana Humes, all of Rehoboth; Charles Albert White, III of South Attleboro; Richard White of Norton; seven sisters and brothers: June Audlee of Stoughton; John White of Florida; Robert White of Taunton; Walter White of Rhode Island; William White of Maine; Pearl Martins of Brockton; Evelyn Fortier of Foxboro; seven grandchildren: Daniel White,Tanya DeCosta, Crystal White, all of Attleboro; Charles White, IV of Newport, RI; Richard White, Jr. of Norton; Samuel Humes, Kellie Humes, both of Rehoboth; eight great-grandchildren: Brian DeCosta, Jr., Steven DeCosta, Stefiane Greene, Sarah DeCosta, Shyann Greene , Skylar Buzzell, Keenan White, all of Attleboro; Shayla Thomas of Norton. He also leaves behind five step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was father of the late Frederick White; the brother of the late Priscilla Cataldo and James White; and the grandfather of the late Julie White and Katie White. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right, mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a funeral service immediately following visitation at 6:00 PM in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home. Childrens room is available during the visitation and funeral service. Burial in Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton at a later date will be private.
