Charles Walter Shumila

Charles Walter Shumila, 82, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carole Anne (Solari) Shumila, to whom he was married on June 23, 1956.Born on September 24, 1935 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen ( Kulikauskas) Shumila.A graduate of Roslindale High School, Class of 1953, he was employed by Stop & Shop as a Store Manager for forty-six years before retiring in 1997.A resident of North Attleboro since 1959, Charlie was a warm, kind, outgoing man who loved spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing golf and cards, and annual visits to Ogunquit, Maine.In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children: Larry Shumila and his wife, Natasha, of Lexington, MA; Deb (Shumila) Cerrone and her husband, Donald, of North Attleboro, MA; Steve Shumila and his wife, Colleen of North Attleboro, MA; Chuck Shumila and his companion, Amy, of North Attleboro, MA; and Valerie (Shumila) Marchetti and her companion, Billy of Cranston, RI. He was the brother of the late Theresa (Shumila) Martell. Charlie was the adoring grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and the proud great-grandfather of seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves a niece, nephew and many dear friends.Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Charles by gathering for a Visitation on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Christian Mass on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro, MA.A Children's Room is available during the visitation.Those in need of transportation to visitation may simply call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 to make an advance reservation for complimentary local transportation.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles W.
