Charles Henry Lander Sr., 96, a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 16, 2021, at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. He was the husband of Aldea Leona (Fredette) Lander, whom he married during World War II on December 23, 1943.
Born in Attleboro on October 7, 1924, he was a son of the late Frederick E. Lander Sr., and the late Ethel (Mathewson) Lander. Mr. Lander was raised and educated in Attleboro and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
He was last employed as a press operator for V. H. Blackinton & Company in Attleboro Falls, MA for ten years prior to his retirement in January 1989.
Mr. Lander enjoyed bowling and gardening, but his truest love was spending time with his beloved wife of 77 years, his son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Aldea, he leaves a son: Charles "Mickey" H. Lander Jr. and his wife, Dorothy "DeeDee" (Tetreault) Lander, of Attleboro Falls, MA; two grandchildren: Valerie J. Gravel and her husband, Mark R. Gravel, of Attleboro, MA, and Dawn M. Lander in Florida: three great grandchildren: Christopher Paul Lander of Attleboro Falls, MA, and Morgan A. Gravel and Thomas R. Gravel, both of Attleboro, MA. He leaves several generations of many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lander was the brother of the late Hattie L. Torrey, Gwen St. Germaine, Donald Lander, Frederick E. Lander Jr., Richard Lander, Richmond Lander, and Graham Lander.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation with Veteran's Honors on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA.
A Celebration of his life with Veteran's Honors will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, in the "Commonwealth Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home.
Burial will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
