Charles Latimer, Jr., 88, of North Attleboro, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Hospice Center of Home and Hospice of Rhode Island, in Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of the late Eunice G. (Cotton) Latimer who died on April 12, 2014.Born on March 18, 1928 in Valley Falls, RI, he was the son of the late Charles Latimer, Sr. and Margaret (Collins) Latimer.A resident of North Attleboro, MA for the past fifty years, Charles proudly and honorably served our country in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. He was employed for thirty years for Texas Instruments before retiring in 1991.Charles was a proud member of the Attleboro American Legion, Post 312 South Attleboro, and of the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014. He was a passionate golfer and enjoyed bowling and gardening, especially tending to his vegetables and flowers. He held family dear to his heart, and truly valued time spent with them.He is survived by his two children: Charles Latimer III, and his wife, Suzanne (Stapleton) Latimer, of Mount Holly, New Jersey; and Cheryl L. Latimer-Linton of North Attleboro, MA, and her former spouse, Dennis M. Linton of Seekonk, MA. He leaves five grandchildren: Matthew C. Latimer; Sean M. Latimer; Kyle J. Latimer and his wife, Abby Latimer; Zachary W. Linton, Sr., and his wife, Christina Trost-Linton; and Samantha Lee Linton; a great-grandson: Zachary W. Linton, Jr. and a great-granddaughter: Ava Elizabeth Linton. He was the brother of Margaret (Latimer) DeRouin of Clinton, MA, and Nancy (Latimer) Gabrielson of Burrillville, RI. He leaves several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.Charles was the brother of the late Dorothy (Latimer) Pond.Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. in the Golden Antler Room of the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014, 887 South Main Street, Attleboro MA 02703, with a Memorial Service with military honors at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in memory of Charles would be appreciated.For additional information or to send the family a written expression of sympathy, please visit an on-line guest book at www.dyer-lakefuneralhome.com .
